Glossary
Plain-English definitions of the terms used across CourtBook.
Club — your organisation on CourtBook. Everything (courts, members, bookings) belongs to it.
Slug / web address — the unique last part of your public link, e.g. malabar-hill in
courtbook.org/malabar-hill.
Dashboard — your private admin area at courtbook.org/dashboard.
Owner — the account that created the club; has full access, including billing and team.
Staff — additional logins you create, each limited by a role.
Role — a named set of permissions (view/manage across areas like bookings or members).
Sport — an activity you offer (tennis, badminton…). Courts belong to sports.
Court — an individual bookable space, with its own price and status.
Slot — a bookable block of time on a court, sized by your slot duration.
Operating hours — the open/close times per day that generate slots.
Court block — a temporary closure of a court for chosen dates/times.
Member — a person allowed to book; logs in by phone + OTP.
Member type — a label for groups of members (e.g. ordinary, premium).
OTP — One-Time Password, the SMS code members use to log in.
Booking rules — settings for slot length, daily limits, advance window, and cancellation deadline.
Cancellation deadline — how many hours before a slot a member may still cancel.
Plan — your subscription tier; sets limits on courts, members, sports, and staff.
Trial — your free 14-day period with full access.
Entitlement — whether your club is currently active (in trial or paid). If it lapses, the booking site pauses until you renew.
